The Ven Alfred Pott (1822-1908〔(Keble College, Oxford )〕) was Archdeacon of Berkshire from 1870 until 1903. He was educated at Eton〔”ETON COLLEGE, MARCH 16” The Standard (London, England), Monday, March 18, 1839; Issue 4599〕 and Magdalen College, Oxford〔”The historical register of the University of Oxford : being a supplement to the Oxford University calendar, with an alphabetical record of University honours and distinctions completed to the end of Trinity term 1888” Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1888〕 He was ordained Deacon in 1845 〔“Ordination at OXFORD” The Standard (London, England), Thursday, December 25, 1845; Issue 6679〕 and Priest in 1846.〔“ORDINATIONS” The Morning Chronicle (London, England), Monday, December 21, 1846; Issue 24074〕 He was the incumbent at St. Agatha, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell.〔(Church Web Site )〕 He was Chairman of the Governors of Abingdon School from 1866 to 1902.
